Level select:
Note: This procedure requires editing a game file; creating a backup copy of the file before proceeding is recommended. With a text editor, edit the “buildalot.ini” file in the game directory. Find your profile name in the file. The values that? must be changed are after the “[User 0]” heading and before the “[User 1]” heading. Look for the “LevelStatus” value. A “0” indicates you have not played it yet. A “2” indicates that you have passed that level. A “3” indicates that you have completed it expertly. Change all of those values to “3”. After that, change all the values of “LevelNumPlays” to “1”. Change all the “CityGift” values to “1”. Change all the “CasualLevelStatus” values to “1”. Save the file and start the game. You can now access all levels.
Easy money hint:
To get enough money to pay for materials, always flip your first house. For later levels, the following sequence is recommended:
1. Build a sawmill.
2. Spend $75,000 on materials.
3. Build a workshop.
4. Build a bank and set it to donate.
5. Hire a worker if needed and build the most expensive house you can afford.
6. Upgrade the house to two stars if Rambler and mansion, and four stars for everything else if you can afford it. Do not sell anything at three stars.
7. Flip the house.
8. Purchase materials at the cheapest bulk rate.
9. Hire workers and build the most expensive houses you can afford
10 Upgrade those houses to four stars if you want to keep them. Set the rent is proportional to the money you spend on it by percentage.
Avoiding taxes:
Build a bank and click the “Donate On” button to prevent taxes, then move the pointer and watch the bank meter fill up. When it almost touches the end, click the “Donate Off” button to collect the bank interest. After getting the money, repeat the process. This must be done immediately to avoid paying the taxes. You will pay taxes less than when using the “Donate Off” option at all times.
