There is a location to gather crystals near the elder in the snowy mountains. It is a blue ice chunk.
Defeating Tigerex:
Put Tigerex to sleep. Use a Great Sword’s charge attack on its head to badly wound or kill it. Make sure to have a Gunner or Sleep Knives ready.
